Cookie Policy
Last updated: August 26, 2026
This page explains the cookies and similar browser storage ctrlcapture uses. ctrlcapture does not run advertising and sets no advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
Strictly necessary
These are required for the Service to work at all, and cannot be switched off. They are used to:
- keep you signed in and remember your session between page loads;
- hand a session securely to the ctrlcapture Chrome extension when you connect it to your account;
- remember that you have already entered the password for a protected share link, so you are not asked again on every view;
- protect against cross-site request forgery and abuse.
Analytics
We use a small amount of analytics storage to understand how the Service is used in aggregate — which pages are visited, whether a share link was viewed, and roughly how much of a video was watched. Viewer IP addresses are hashed or truncated before they are stored, as described in our Privacy Policy. Analytics data is not used to build advertising profiles and is not sold.
Managing cookies
You can clear or block cookies in your browser settings. Blocking strictly necessary cookies will prevent sign-in and share-link passwords from working.
Follow-up before an EU/UK launch
This page alone is not sufficient for visitors in the EU or UK. Serving users there requires a consent banner that obtains opt-in consent for the analytics category before any non-essential cookie is set, with an equally easy way to decline and to change the choice later. That banner has not been built yet and must be in place before launching to those regions.
